BACK TO | Employment Law Essentials for Managers

The French-Lithuanian Chamber of Commerce (CCFL), in partnership with the law firm WIDEN, hosted an exclusive executive training programme titled “Employment Law Essentials for Managers”. Held on May 26, 2026, the specialized session brought together managers and corporate leaders to navigate the vital legal frameworks governing the modern workplace.

The training was led by Rūta Globytė, Partner at WIDEN and an Attorney-at-Law with over a decade of expertise in labor law, who shared practical, real-world answers to the most pressing employment questions across three comprehensive modules:

  • Forming the Employment Relationship: An essential look at mandatory contract terms, distinguishing between fixed-term and indefinite agreements, navigating probation periods, and managing GDPR and discrimination risks during recruitment.

  • Managing the Ongoing Relationship: Practical guidance on varying contract terms, understanding leave and rest entitlements, implementing fair disciplinary and performance processes, and managing compliance with the EU Pay Transparency Directive.

  • Ending the Employment Relationship: A breakdown of lawful grounds for dismissal, procedural requirements for restructuring and redundancies, and navigating legal obligations regarding protected employee categories.

The core of the session focused on transforming complex legal obligations into everyday management tools. By shifting from reactive issue-handling to proactive compliance, participants left equipped to recognize common legal risks, understand their operational responsibilities, and determine exactly when to escalate matters to HR or legal counsel.

Beyond the core modules, the event served as an interactive platform for CCFL members to address shared organizational hurdles during a dedicated Q&A session. Through these targeted training initiatives, the Chamber continues to empower its business community with the knowledge needed to thrive in an evolving regulatory environment.

The CCFL extends its sincere gratitude to Rūta Globytė and WIDEN for their invaluable partnership, as well as to all the attendees for their active engagement.

Stay tuned for future CCFL events!
