This training program has been designed specifically for managers to provide clear, practical, and real-world answers to the most frequently asked questions. Across three modules, we will systematically cover the entire employment relationship cycle – from hiring to termination – and discuss where the greatest risks lie and how to avoid them.

10.30 – 10.55 Module 1: Forming the Employment Relationship
Mandatory contract terms; fixed-term vs. indefinite contracts; probation periods and their legal weight; job descriptions and internal policies as contractual documents; pre-employment checks, discrimination risks, and GDPR in recruitment.
10.55 – 11.30 Module 2: Managing the Ongoing Relationship
Varying contract terms – what requires employee consent and what does not; working time, rest periods, and leave entitlements; performance management and the disciplinary process – procedural fairness in practice; remote and flexible work arrangements and the employer’s legal obligations; pay transparency and wage-related compliance (EU Pay Transparency Directive 2023/970).
11.30 – 11.50 Module 3: Ending the Employment Relationship
Lawful vs. unlawful grounds for dismissal; procedural requirements – warnings, hearings, notice periods, severance pay; redundancy, restructuring, and collective dismissal rules; protected categories – pregnancy, trade union membership, illness, and others.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to: understand the legal framework governing employment relationships and their responsibilities as managers; identify key obligations at each stage of the employment lifecycle; recognise common legal risks and know when to escalate to HR or legal counsel; apply practical decision-making frameworks to everyday management situations.
Rūta Globytė is a Partner at the law firm WIDEN and an Attorney-at-Law with over 10 years of legal experience in the field of labor law. Rūta works with clients across various sectors, particularly technology companies and startups, helping them address both day-to-day issues and complex strategic decisions. Rūta is also a Lecturer at Mykolas Romeris University, where she delivers lectures and conducts training sessions on labor law.
