At the Choose France summit on 19 May 2025, British neo-bank Revolut, which has been operating in Lithuania since 2018, unveiled an ambitious investment plan for France.
With an investment of more than €1 billion over three years, Revolut will create more than 200 jobs and strengthen its presence in France. This investment, one of the largest in the French financial sector for ten years, marks a key step for the fintech sector.
The plan includes :
A new head office in Paris, dedicated to overseeing operations in Western Europe (Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Ireland), in addition to its historic hub in Vilnius employing more than 200 people through attached companies in Lithuania.
An application for a French banking licence from the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR), the French banking regulator. This will make it possible to offer a wider range of services (loans, mortgages, regulated savings) and better meet the needs of the local market.
Revolut – the leading bank in Lithuania, already has 55 million customers worldwide, including 40 million in Europe. In 2024, it became the most downloaded banking application in France, with 3.5 million accounts opened.
After obtaining a post-Brexit Lithuanian banking licence to operate in the EU, Revolut is taking a further step in France to become more firmly rooted in the European banking landscape.
This is a strong signal for the attractiveness of France and a fine example of economic cooperation between Lithuania and France!
