This festive gathering marks the perfect opportunity to start the new year with a taste of French culture. The “Galette des Rois” tradition has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages. Originally associated with the Epiphany, this custom has evolved into a beloved social event that brings people together throughout January.

Did you know?
–  The galette’s origins can be traced to ancient Roman festivals honoring Saturn.
–  In the 14th century, French Benedictine monks filled puff pastry with almond frangipane to celebrate the Three Kings’ visit.
–  A small charm or “fève” is hidden inside the cake, and whoever finds it becomes the “king” or “queen” for the day.
